Introduction:
Suji Ka Halwa is a quick, soulful, and deeply traditional South Asian dessert, typically enjoyed for Sunday breakfast or during festive occasions. For the most authentic aroma and melt-in-your-mouth texture, cooking it in premium Banaspati is absolutely essential.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Semolina (Suji)

  • ½ cup Mezan Banaspati (brings out the authentic rich aroma)

  • ¾ cup Hamza Sugar (A Mezan Group Product)

  • 3 cups water

  • 4-5 green cardamoms (crushed)

  • Almonds and pistachios (chopped, for garnish)

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Sugar Syrup: In a saucepan, bring water, Hamza Sugar, and crushed cardamom to a boil. Let it simmer until the sugar completely dissolves. Keep it warm.

  2. Roast the Semolina: In a heavy wok or pan, melt the Mezan Banaspati over medium-low heat. Add the semolina (suji) and stir continuously.

  3. Achieve the Golden Hue: Keep roasting the semolina until it turns a deep golden color and releases a beautiful toasted aroma (about 7-10 minutes).

  4. Combine & Thicken: Carefully pour the warm sugar syrup into the roasted semolina (be careful as it will bubble!). Stir continuously to avoid lumps.

  5. Cook to Perfection: Keep stirring until the mixture thickens and the halwa starts leaving the sides of the pan.

  6. Garnish: Turn off the heat, garnish generously with chopped nuts, and serve warm.
